A short guide for the first evening with the app. Start with one show; the rest can wait.

1. Install the app and sign in

Download RedCurtain from the App Store. It runs on iPhone and iPad and requires iOS 27 or iPadOS 27. Sign in with your Apple Account, and your diary syncs privately between your devices through your own iCloud account.

2. Log the last show you saw

Tap the plus button and take a photo of the ticket, type the title, or tell Siri in your own words. Check the theatre and the date you went. That is the minimum; everything else is optional and can be added later.

3. Add the details while you remember them

Open the show and fill in the auditorium and seat, what you paid and who sold you the ticket, then give it a half-star rating and a note. These are the details that disappear first, and they are what makes an old entry worth rereading.

4. Add what you have booked

Anything with a future date goes on your Want to See list, so the next booking is always in view. Log a show when you book it and the entry is waiting for your rating on the way home. If your bookings are already in Calendar, RedCurtain can import them in one go: see Adding shows.

5. Look at Insights and Awards once you have a few

Insights needs a handful of shows before it has anything to say, and it tells you so rather than inventing a trend. Awards start arriving with your first show, and if you import your history, everything you have already earned is waiting for you.
