Getting Started

A short guide for the first evening with the app. Start with one show; the rest can wait.

1. Install the app

Download RedCurtain from the App Store. It requires iOS 27 or later and runs on iPhone and iPad. There is no sign-up and no account. If you are signed in to iCloud, RedCurtain can offer to sync your log across your devices.

2. Log the last show you saw

Tap the plus button on the Shows tab and search for the title. Pick the theatre and the date you went. That is the minimum: everything else is optional and can be added later.

3. Add the details while you remember them

Open the show and fill in the time, your seat, what you paid and where you bought it, and who you went with. These are the details that disappear first, and they are what makes an old entry worth rereading.

4. Add what you have booked

Shows with a future date sit in Upcoming at the top of the list. Log them when you book, and the entry is already waiting for your rating on the way home.

5. Look at Insights once you have a few

Insights needs a handful of shows before it has anything to say. After ten or so you will start seeing the writers you keep returning to, the span of your log, and how much of what you see was adapted from something else.
